The Simple Stranger

As you might know, I spend a lot of time at Tatte Bakery & Cafe. Most of the time I sit at a table for four by myself; not because I’m trying to take up the whole table, but because there aren’t any other tables available.  Continue reading “The Simple Stranger”

New Year, New E

Happy New Year to all!

“New year, new me”… the cliche saying everyone uses when we enter a new year, but don’t worry I titled this post for my own amusement, plus it works with my blog name (lol). With that said, there really are a lot of changes and improvements that are going to happen in my life. I guess it’s not a “new” me, but a better me. I’m not saying that I’m a bad person, I’m actually a really good person, but there are changes that I want to make to better myself more. I guess there’s always room for improvement and what better way than to have some more positive change for this year.

For me, 2015 had many ups and downs and was probably one of the most transitional years of my life. It came with a lot of growing up, many decisions, discovering more about myself and realizing who I am / who I want to be. I feel as though it was my trial and error year in figuring myself out. Now, I’m ready to act upon all that I discovered and realized.

This year will bring adventure, more self discovery and doing things that I want to do for myself. I plan on my blog taking off into a great direction, I plan on eating healthy / working out more and overall focusing on myself. These are the years where you should be selfish and know what you’re worth. I’ve realized that being selfish (in a positive way) to improve your happiness and your outlook on life is something that needs to come first when you get to a certain point in your life and I plan on dedicating a blog post about what I mean and all of that soon.

Overall, I plan to share all of my adventures, stories, thing I’ve learned and will learn throughout this year and so much more. Along with that I can share there are two series that will be coming to my blog along with once a month look-books. This year is going to be a great one and I can’t wait to share all that I have in the works!!

As always, thank you so much for reading! Until next time, XO.

Twas’ the Night Before Christmas

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house… My dad is on the couch and my sister and I make our mom take pictures of us because we got cute matching Victoria’s Secret PJ’s! (I tried to rhyme, but nothing made sense rhyming with house lol)

My sister Amy is two years younger than me (even though she looks older… I know) and we’re best friends. Of course we bicker sometimes (mostly about clothes), but we know that we always have each other and it’s an unbreakable sister bond.

This Christmas I was feeling like I needed some cute matching PJ’s because who doesn’t want matching PJ’s especially when they’re from Victoria’s Secret! I ordered a Christmas pair that I wore to my girls night Christmas Party/ Secret Santa and then ordered the red ones (even though they kind of look pink in the pictures.) Then I was feeling extra generous and decided I’d get a matching pair for my sister too!

VS Christmas PJ’s.. Hard to tell, but there are Christmas trees, presents, ribbon, etc., all over them!

With matching PJ’s of course comes the night before Christmas photo shoot in front of the tree. That’s one great thing about having a sister and being so close… The cute pictures that we both want to have!

This was just a fun shoot to create memories, have fun wearing cute matching PJ’s and I guess there’s always taking pictures like this for Instagram! Thinking it couldn’t get more exciting, our cat Sophie decided she wanted to get in the pictures too (or just wanted to patted).

As you can see, after creeping in the back she decides to get right up front and of course we can’t help but laugh, so we let her join in too!

Needless to say, there usually isn’t a dull moment when I’m at my house with my sister and my cat (and of course thankfully we have a mom that loves to take all of our pictures and dad’s on the couch!) We had a wonderful Christmas full of cherished time with our family. I’m more than grateful to have my dad, mom, sister and Sophie; the holiday season really reminds you of that.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

From us to you, Happy Holidays!! XO.

That’s a Wrap

First semester of Junior Year has finally come to an end and I couldn’t be happier. I swear I’ve been in my midlife college crisis with the way everything was, but I made it out and I’m so excited for the new and exciting things that are coming for me. A lot of change will be happening, but I’m one that loves change, so I can’t wait!

Although I’m excited that the semester is over and that Christmas and the New Year approaches, it’s definitely scary to think that I only have three more semester left of college until the “real” world. I’m definitely excited for the future and my senior year will hopefully be full of internships and connections, but again it’s slightly terrifying. For those that don’t know, my major is Communications concentrating in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Government. Basically when I graduate I plan on (hopefully) taking a job wherever I can get one. Ideally I’d like to stay in New England, but honestly, I might as well travel while I’m young, so wherever I get an offer I’ll go (even if doe end up being Idaho). My plan is to work my way up and gain credibility and professional experience. In the end though, my dream would be to come back to Boston as an anchor and the end up in New York City one day.

I understand that I have to start at the bottom to make it to the top where I want to be, but I’m ready for that. At this point I don’t think I’ll let anything stop me in pursuing my dream and where I want to be in life. Again, although terrifying, I am so excited for the future.

Thank you for reading! XO

The Name

I had always wanted to have a blog, but the main struggle in starting it was honestly coming up with a name. The name is one of the most important parts because it needs to send the message that you’re looking to give and create. I also feel like it should have some of who you are in it.

I knew that I wanted to blog about my life because then it would give me the freedom to blog about all my interests and about anything I wanted. Trying to come up with something clever didn’t really work… I had a document on my laptop of thousands of words and phrases, but none that really felt right to me. It came to mind “The Life of E” at one point, but I didn’t want to be so plain because that’s not who I am. Also, I wanted to be able to shorten the name of my blog by the letters that it started with. Then I began googling adjectives that started with the letter E bexcuse if I had an E word my blog would be “ELE” and I liked that because my initials (first and last) are EL, so that’d kind of be another subtle sentimental part for me. I had words such as elegant (too pose and proper); then there are words like exciting, exotic, excellent… nothing that would go. Even when I Googled “adjectives starting with e” nothing caught my attention. Then one day freshman year of college as I sat on my twin XL bed the word “eloquent” popped in my head. I couldn’t believe I hadn’t thought of it before and it hadn’t came up any time I searched words. I immediately texted my sister “the Eloquent Life of E” and then looked up the definition..

Eloquent: {Beautifully spoken.} Fluent or persuasive in speaking or writing. (confident, clear, expressive, persuasive, strong, forceful, powerful, potent, effective, simple, vivid, moving) Clearly expressing or indicating something. (open, meaningful, suggestive, revealing, telling, significant, indicative)

Immediately, I knew. That was it. The word eloquent expressed exactly what I wanted in a sort of subtle way; just what I was looking for. I also got my “e”, so it was perfect. I then as you all know, created ELE.. the Eloquent Life of E!

Until next time! XO.
